LAND IN THE PARISH OF CORSLEY (NEAR WARMINSTER)

The Will of Stephen Titt of Wiley April 1822

I Stephen Titt in the Parish of Wily in the County ofWilts, being i n sound mind and understanding do bequeathto my son Robert Titt an E state called Steeles being Halfa yard Land situate in the Parish o f Wiley in the Countyof Wilts and the rent of the Farm yard Land sit uate in thesaid Parish of Wiley in the said County and all the stoc kin Husbandry consisting of Horses, Cows, Sheep, Corn,Waggons, Cart s, Ploughs etc with the exception of the Corngrowing on a living cal led Ingrams.

I do also bequeath to my son Joseph Titt a copyhold estatecalled Ing rams situate in the Parish of Wiley in theCounty of wilts and the co rn growing thereon.

I do also bequeath to my Daughter Ann Titt the Sum of OneHundred an d Fifty Pounds in money. One Hundred Pounds tobe paid by my Executo r and Fifty Pounds by my son RobertTitt out of the estate bequeathe d to him.

I do also bequeath to my wife the possession and enjoymentof all th e above named property as long as she lives- andafter her death to b e disposed of as bequeathed above.

I do also appoint my son Robert Titt to be my whole andsole executor.

was bought by Stephen TITT, the husband of Thomas Ingram'sgrand-daug hter,
Deborah Lane, and was farmed by him until his own death in1821.

"There is a monument to Stephen TITT and Deborah in theparish churc h of St
Mary the Virgin in Wylye but William the Pauper has no suchmemorial . The
last mention of his name occurs on the Indenture issued toStephen TI TT on
his acquisition of Thomas Ingram's estate on 13th May 1806:'...to St ephen
TITT, all that estate at Wyly(sic) aforesaid called One ofthe Sarum
Yardlands which lately came into the hands of the said Earlof Pembro ke by
the death of William Titford, consisting of buildings andlands speci fied
in the margin containing in measure 34 acres, 1 rod and 4perches, wi th
Common and Pasture for 90 sheep' ".
