In 1833 Elizabeth put up for sale the entire contents of Standen Farm, in two auctions. She then retired to the Somerset Hospital for retired clergy widows and gentlewomen, in Froxfield, on the Bath Road near Hungerford. Her daughter Mary went to live with her cousin John Washbourn Brown in Uffcott, near Wroughton, for a while and then she too went to live with her mother at the Somerset hospital, where she died in 1854.
