Lived at 20 Imber Rd Warminster, his own house.
Henry was a committee member of the Cooperative WholesaleSociety, an d the Penny Savings Bank. He and his brotherAlbert were founders o f the Society, which eventually grewto the biggest grocery and provi sion store in the town.

He was also a member of the Royal Buffalo Lodge, and achurch Warde n and
sidesman. (Sidesmen collected the money during churchservices). He w as a
member of the choir of St Johns Church (Church of England).He also s erved as a councillor.
Was a french polisher and cabinet maker, working for theJohn Walli s Titt
Company Ltd of Woodcock, Warminster.

His great grand daughter, Carol merchant, remembers hisalways having
Peppermint Shrimps, (a red & white striped candy) for herwhen she vi sited.

He was a kind and genteel man, quietly spoken and astickler for th e courtesies and etiquete of the day, suchas opening doors for wome n and standing when a womanentered the room.

Annie & Henry always ate their meal on linen tableclothswith the ful l service laid out. 'Tea time', a 5pm meal,would consist of thinly c ut sandwiches, small individualcakes on a two tier cake stand, a tur ned out jelly mold,'Ideal Milk', an unsweetened condensed and canne d milk.There was always a cheese board with its own special knife. A passage from the bible was usually read before eachmeal.

Gardening and tending his plum trees were Henry's onlyactivities i n his spare time.

Henry never smoked or drank, which probably contributed tohis posses sion of
three houses, 16, 17 & 20 Imber Rd. He rented out 16 & 17,and eventu ally sold them to his sons. He also ran a car.He regularly read hi s bible.
