The 1881 census shows John to be occupied as 'father's assistant'. So he must
have been an 'apprentice' blacksmith. He lived with his parents.
According to John's great grandson, Garry Caswell:-
John was a master blacksmith and farrier. he was a resident of Marlborough during his married years. Whilst working as a farrier in WW1 he was kicked by a horse and subsequently died in the 1940's.
