According to Jesse Floyd: "Burrell migrated from Campbell County, Georgiato Choctaw County, Mississippi between 1844 and 1848. Synthia Coggin,age 26, is listed after Burrell on the 1850 Census. I feel that she is adaughter rather than a wife although, there is a gap of six years in thebirth dates between Burrell T. and Polly Jane. Until I saw the 1860Census, I believed that Synthia may have been Burrell's second wife.Mary is listed as his wife on the next two census and her age isconstant. On the 1840 Georgia Census, there is a woman listed betweenage 30 and 40 which also leads me to believe this was Mary. I believethat Mary may have been away when the census was taken and somehow wasmissed. There is a William Coggins, age 24, living next to Burrell onthe 1850 Census and Jarred Coggins living not too far away. I believethat both are sons of Burrell. Synthia, William, and Jarred were allborn in North Carolina."
