Maurice owns two cups belonging to his great greatgrandfather Jame s (R279).
For many years he thought they were egg cups, and that longago egg s were a
little bigger than todays. Then he saw a pair identicalexhibited o n the TV
program "The Antique Road Show" and discovered they were infact -wi ne
glasses!

During a recent telephone conversation, and subsequently aletter, Ma urice told
me of an intriguing story about a Mr Titt of Chitterne whowent to Oh io as a
young man. He cut ice from the River Ohio, and stored it incaves nea rby. He
then sold it to the surrounding towns in the summer, andbecame a ver y wealthy
man. He returned to Chitterne and built a house called TheRound Hous e, which
is quite a land mark in the area.
