1881 census shows Thomas to be his 'fathers assistant' andliving wit h his
parents.

I have placed this record with this man, as he is theoldest of the C aswell
children in Rockley, so presumably he is the man refered to.

I asked an old man named Caswell in Rockley. He said atonce "O yes , but it
(the stream) only runs in the Great Wars." I asked if hehad ever see n it and
he said, 'No, there ain't been no great wars in my time'. Isaid, 'Wh at about
the Crimea?'
'No, I zed the GREAT wars, Napoleon and such like...'
