Peggy was born in the home of Dr. , in Drew, MS. She was named afterher Aunt Peggy, her mother's sister, Peggy Joyce Davenport. Aunt Peggywas the tenth of eleven children born to George and Velma Davenport.When Aunt Carolyn was born, my mother took the responsibility of takingcare of Peggy. Her middle name comes from her mother's older sisterBarbara.
She was a breech baby which only added to the preeclampsia Mom wasalready suffering from. Peggy only weighed three pounds.
In college, she had a double major, English and Psychology. She became ateacher without any education classes and because of the TemporaryTeaching Certificate, she eventually was able to get a LifetimeCertificate with no student teaching. Presently, she is the head of theGuidance Department at Collinsville High School, in Collinsville, IL.
Her first marriage was to Thomas Richard Tapscott, a marriage that lastedabout twenty years. They lived in Kentucky, Georgia, Tennessee, andIllinois.
She married Ernie Lemons in February, 1993. This marriage took place inthe office of Hardin County Judge Executive, Glen Dalton, inElizabethtown, KY. She was in E'town to be sworn in as co-executer ofher father's estate.
