According to Sam Floyd, he was light complected and thin like hisfather. He, his brother Cecil, and brother-in-law James Briscoe hadadjoining farms in Sunflower County. His family later moved from thereto a cotton and dairy farm about eight miles east of Ruleville just offHwy 8. In 1952, he went to work for the Spur Oil Company running aservice station. After retiring from Spur Oil, he worked as a secruityguard at hospitals in Greenville and Greenwood.
