Buckridge of Speen, later of Basildon dated 24 July 1714
his will dated 22 March 1735 probated or proved 1736 (Arch
Berks was witnessed by Lucy Haynes, Mary Haynes, Overseer
(Lovelace or Lovelock) and Oare. Gent. Proved by JohnBartlett
son in law. wife's name unknown. married? said to have been
married at Old Basing, Hampshire.
William is mentioned in the will of Thomas Buckeridge ofSpeen, late r of
Basildon, dated 14 July 1714.
He is described in the will of his cousin, Dorothy Pocock,spinster o f Bradley Court, Cheivley, as a quaker.
William was present at the court case that brought theBasildon Estat es back into the rightful line in the personof Thomas Buckeridge o f Chival Oakley (1660-1743)
He alleged that Thomas promised him that the estates wouldbe his 'a s soon as the breath is out of my body'. But heleft them instead t o Thomas Noyes of Andover. (SeeBasildon branch)
Mr Dyer described him as a weak character & it is in somemeasure du e to this that the Buckeridge family lost theestates.
